What is the topic of the competition?

The main subject of the Shenema Short Film Platform is selected as “Woman”. The platform will take into consideration the applications of the candidates who will apply to the contest on the theme to be determined differently each year under this main subject.

What is the theme of the competition?

Shenema Short Film Platform 2019-2020 year theme is selected as “Prejudices”.

There are 3 types of application on system. Which one should I apply for?

Shenema Short Film Platform announces 3 different applications:

Shenema Short Film Project Contest: Short film project owners with the theme “Prejudices” on subject “Women, can apply to the contest between the dates announced by the Platform.

2 Minutes Ready Video Competition: is a video contest with the subject “Woman”, on February 2020, which will be shared only with the applicants who apply for this competition at an unspecified day and time.

With the subject “Woman”PhD Thesis Research Scholarship Application: It is the application for scholarship to be given to PhD students who prepare or will prepare PhD thesis.

What is the application deadline?

The deadline for the preliminary applications of Shenema Short Film Project Contest, PhD Thesis Research Scholarship, 2 Minutes Ready Video Competition is 21 December 2019, Saturday. Applications must be completed before the business hours end by 17:30.

After submitting the application, how the evaluation and reward process will be?

Shenema Short Film Project Competition: When the applications are completed, the preliminary jury will evaluate all projects from 21 December 2019 to 22 January 2020 and will determine the final projects. Final projects will be announced on 22 January 2020. A maximum of 10 finalists’ producers and/or directors will participate in the Pitching Training on 1 February 2020. After this training, on 05 March 2020, they will present their projects to the main jury of the competition. As a result of the evaluation of the main jury, 3 winning projects will be announced at the award ceremony that will be held by the Shenema Short Film Platform on 06 March 2020.

2 Minutes Ready Video Competition: Candidates who apply to participate in the Contest until 21 December 2019 are informed on February 2020 on an unspecific date and time by the system they used for registering themselves to the contest with an SMS or e-mail about the theme of 2019-2020 under the main subject “Woman. Starting from the moment they are informed about the theme, within 48 hours, participants upload their maximum of 2 minutes videos. The winner will be announced on 06 March 2020 at the award ceremony organized by the Shenema Short Film Platform.

With the subject “Woman”PhD Thesis Research Scholarship Application: PhD scholarship applicants who prepare or will prepare PhD thesis on the subject of “Woman” make their applications via system between application dates. The winning scholarship application will be announced on 06 March 2020 at the Shenema Short Film Platform award ceremony.

What are the important dates for the application and assessment?

Project applications should be submitted between 07 October 2019- 21 December 2019. Finalist projects will be announced on 22 January 2020. After the evaluation of the main jury, the winner of the three short film projects and video competition and the PhD Thesis Research scholarship, which will continue independently from this process, will be announced by the Shenema Short Film Platform at the award ceremony on 06 March 2020.

Is there any age limit for applying to contest?

There is no age limitation for applying to contest.

Who are in the pre-jury?

The pre-jury comprises 7 professionals who are professionals on the “theme” of cinema or contest.

Who are in the main-jury?

The jury comprises 7 people who specialize in “theme” of the cinema and contest, is selected by the Shenema Short Film Platform.

Who are in the Advisory Board?

Advisory Board; comprises 5 expert lecturers, scientist or expert on Contest’s “theme” for the selection of PhD Thesis Research Scholarship.

To whom, when and in which way will the prize be paid?

Awards will be given at the award ceremony held by Shenema Short Film Platform:

Shenema Short Film Project Third place prize, 2 Minutes Ready Video Contest Winner, PhD Thesis Research Scholarship are awarded in the form of checks issued in amount of prize they have won. The winner of the Shenema Short Film Project, which won the Production Award, is awarded by the end of May 2020 with the implementation of the project. The second prize of the Shenema Short Film Project is awarded within the following week after the producer completes the production of the project.

How long the film should be for project?

The film project applied for should be maximum of 15 minutes short film project including the credits. For 2 Minutes Ready Video Competition, videos should be maximum of 2 minutes.

What should I do if my project is a finalist?

To show that the project owners accept the terms of the regulations, every page of the Shenema Short Film Platform Regulation signed by the director and producer, should be send to [email protected]

Can I apply with a film project or video that has participated/won another competition?

Applicant film projects/videos must not have competed in other contests and won awards before.

Is it possible to participate with more than one film project?

You can participate in more than one film project. In this case, a separate form must be completed for each application.
