1. ABOUT

Shenema International Istanbul Short Film Platform which will be held for the first time this year between 05-06 March 2020, has its main subject as “Woman” and the theme will change every year. The main aim is to draw attention to the problems experienced in a social life where gender equality is ensured and guaranteed, and to highlight possible solutions and to create public opinion about the solution. With this vision, Shenema International Istanbul Short Film Platform wants to draw attention to increase the opportunities of the short film production, make the short film production an industry and the importance of supporting films starting from the idea stage. STL3 Film & Distribution, Advertisers Association, Advertising Agencies Association, Advertising Foundation create stakeholders of Shenema International Istanbul Short Film Platform.
At the same time, Shenema International Istanbul Short Film Platform aims to draw attention to increase the opportunities of short film production, make the short film production an industry and the importance of supporting films starting from the idea stage.

Shenema International Istanbul Short Film Platform 2019-2020 year theme is “Prejudices”.

4. SHENEMA INTERNATIONAL ISTANBUL SHORT FILM PROJECT CONTEST APPLICATION TERMS

• At least one of the director (author) and / or producer of the projects that apply to the Platform should be a citizen of Republic of Turkey or Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
• If the project that applies to Platform is a co-production project, co-production must comply with the European Convention on Cinematographic Productions.
• Fiction, documentary, and experimental projects can apply.
• The pre-jury of the Short Film Project Competition selects from applications 7 minimum or 10 maximum projects as finalists and includes them in the pitching platform.
• The project owner acknowledges that all legal and penal responsibility for the copyright of the film project belongs to him / her. • The applicants must fill in all the fields in the online application form and complete their applications by 21 December 2019, which is the last application date at 17:30 at the latest.
• Projects that have started shooting cannot apply.
• The selected projects should not start shooting until 06 March 2020, which is the Short Film Platform award ceremony.
• The selected projects will be published and announced to the press on the Shenema International Istanbul Short Film Platform website on 22 January 2020.
• The Platform covers the accommodation in Istanbul and domestic travel expenses for the finalists. The Platform covers travel and accommodation expenses for 2(two) people if one is the director and the other is the producer.
• Producers and / or directors of the selected projects must participate in pitching training and the presentation of the main jury. If the producer and / or director does not participate in pitching training and the main jury presentation, the project will not evaluated.
• As long as it complies with the theme, fiction, documentary, experimental genre project files can be submitted.
• Applications should only be made via the online application form. Shipments that will be onlu physically delivered by means of cargo or mail will not be considered.
• The scenario in the project file should be written in A4 size with 12 pt. (As Word or PDF file)

5. 2 MINUTES READY VIDEO COMPETITION- APPLICATION TERMS

 

• People who apply to 2 Minutes Ready Video Competition should be a citizen of the Republic of Turkey or the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
• The Shenema International Istanbul Short Film Platform Regulation gives the applicants a theme for no more than 2 minutes video on a date that will not be announced at the first place, and applicants are required to upload their ready-made videos to the application system within the following 48 hours.
• The author acknowledges that all legal and penal responsibility for the copyright of the film project belongs to him / her. Any copyright related issues arising from the use of non-original text or images etc. of the project file to be submitted to the contest are the responsibility of the author. 6. SUBJECT MATTER “WOMAN” PHD THESIS RESEARCH SCHOLARSHIP – APPLICATION TERMS

PhD students who registered to a PhD program in Turkey, passed their PhD qualifying exam at the application date and selected their thesis topic as “Woman” that are citizens of Republic of Turkey or Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, can apply for the scholarship.

The person who is entitled to receive the scholarship may make only minor changes in the thesis subjects stated at the time of application, but they cannot completely change the subject of the thesis.

There is no upper age limit for the scholarship application.

In order to apply, both the online application form must be completed and submitted, and the application documents determined by the Platform must be delivered to the Platform. Doing just one of them is not enough for evaluation. After the application is made online, the following documents:

Shenema PhD Thesis Research Scholarship will be announced at the award ceremony on 06 March 2020 and then will be published on the website.

 

7. SHORT FILM PROJECT PRESENTATION

• The finalists of the Short Film Project Contest will receive pitching training on 31 January, 7 February, 14 February 2020 by a film professional determined by the Shenema International Istanbul Short Film Platform Regulation.
• Short International Istanbul Film Project Contest finalists will make a presentation to the main jury members on 05 March 2020 for a maximum of 15 minutes after this training.
• The juries consist of producers, directors, film fund managers, film critics and experts on Shenema 2019-2020 theme.

 

8. SHORT FILM PROJECT EVALUATION

• Pre-Jury: Short Film Platform pre-jury comprises 7 people. It evaluates all the projects applied and determines the final works. In the final, 7 minimum and a 10 maximum works will be selected by the jury.

• Main Jury: The jury members, who will evaluate the final works, are composed of 5 experts in the fields of cinema and art. The jury evaluates the finalist works, determines the first, second, and third place awards. The Shenema International Istanbul Short Film Platform may also award special prizes on the recommendation of the jury.

  

9. 2 MUNUTES READY VIDEO COMPETITION EVALUATION

The jury comprises 3 people who are experts in the fields of communication, advertising and art. The jury evaluates the applicant videos and determines the winner of the first prize. The Shenema International Istanbul Short Film Platform may also award special prizes on the recommendation of the jury.

  

10. PHD THESIS RESEARCH SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION EVALUATION

Shenema Scholarship applications are evaluated by the Advisory Board comprises 3 faculty members and university experts. The Board evaluates the applicants and determines the subject of the thesis that wins the scholarship. The Shenema International Istanbul Short Film Platform may also award special prizes on the recommendation of the Advisory Board.

 

11. FINALIST PROJECTS OF SHORT FILM PROJECT COMPETITION

To show that the authors accept the terms of the regulations, every page of the Shenema International Istanbul Short Film Platform Regulation signed by the director and producer, should be send to [email protected] and submitted by mail to Festiva Istanbul, Maslak Mah. Ahi Evran Cad. Kolektif House Maslak, Ofis No: 730 Maslak/İstanbul.

• The signatories ensure the accuracy of the information in these documents. The legal responsibility arising from the information given, belongs to the signatories. If incorrect and/or incomplete information is found in the information, even if the person has received an award, the award will be canceled and reclaimed.

• The awards are announced at the award ceremony that will be held by the Shenema International Istanbul Short Film Platform.

• The award will be given to the director and producer who is the legal owner of the project.
• If the director is absent during the award ceremony, the award is given to the producer of the project or a representative of the director who has previously determined and notified in writing to Shenema International Istanbul Short Film Platform Management.
• The owners of the awarded projects; will be obliged to publish a notice stating that work has awarded by Shenema International Istanbul Short Film Platform along with the logo in opening or closing credits, issued press releases, newspaper ads and publicity in any media.
• The owners of the awarded projects and finalists; will be obliged to publish a notice stating that work has awarded by Shenema International Istanbul Short Film Platform stating First / Second / Third / Jury Special / Honorable Mention Award along with the logo, in opening or closing credits, issued press releases, newspaper ads and publicity in any media. Festiva Istanbul and STL3 Film & Distribution will be the production partner of the Shenema International Istanbul Short Film Project Competition Winner and Festiva Istanbul and STL3 Film & Distribution will have the right to distribute, reproduce and distribute in all kinds of promotional media.
